0:00A band not a pouring-on warp tour though, but it basically started all gold finger, gonna be right here after these two tunes from the Superman, and counting the days on 88.3 CGIQ. So I had a chance to sit down with Kelly from Goldfinger,
6:43right here on 88.3 CGIQ, and here's how the chat went. Well, you know, funny enough, I wasn't even officially in the band. I was filling in for the original bass player. Yeah. This was 96 December and 96. I think that was the first show I ever did was gold finger. How'd you meet up with them originally? I used to be in the band with John for years before Goldfinger, and then that band fell apart or everybody went their ways, and he started Goldfinger and I went off and played with a bunch of other people, and then their bass player was like, hey, I'm going to New Zealand for a wedding and Christmas for like the month.
7:31Can you fill in for me? And they were like, yeah, yeah, I have to have done. And pour down bastard, and I got his job! Ha ha ha! What's it like backstage for you guys? Big party atmosphere? Well, here, because we're meeting a lot of label people, because now we're on Maverick, and we haven't met a lot of them. And so I had to go and shake all the hands, press ham, I think you call it. And backstage now it's just kind of mellow, just waiting to go on, kind of sort of. Any rituals with the band at all? We do a little knuckle thing kind of before we go on. I always do that. Every band I've ever played in, I've always been like, have a good show, have a good show. Touch knuckles, touch ham, and it's about it, really. Rock out. Oh yeah, we got to sacrifice goats.
8:20Oh yeah, it's always fun. After the show though, party? I drink a little red wine, and I've been known to talk to people. You guys head over right after the show, or is it going around? We got to go to Cincinnati, we have to like roll down a Cincinnati plan there and tomorrow. So we usually bone out around too, you know, and I'm sure they'll want to mess with us at the border. Get out, you know, rubber glove, and grab your ankles, cough. You guys ever have any problems like that? One time we did, because we had this guitar tack, it was a stoner, and there was a broken, he had like a broken pipe or a ball or something, and I'm like, did you throw that thing away and he's all, yeah, yeah, yeah. I threw it away four days ago, yeah. He threw it away in the garbage can in the bus. It was just like, can I swear on this?
9:07Oh yeah. Well, how about, are you flipping retarded? So, I didn't really get messed with, even though the dog did jump on me, they stripped straight to the person next to me, and this other tack, and that's about it. Usually they're pretty cool. We haven't had, especially coming in, they're like, oh, bowl Pringers here again, all right, let's get some beers. That's awesome. But usually it's pretty cool. You know, I mean, we come up here so much and they travel so much, if you look at somebody's passport, and all that, like you'll get some new guy at the airport. You know they're new because they're like, oh, they're all young and all. Have you got any uppers, downers, grass? Yeah, and you're just looking at them, you know, I'm stuck, you're looking at them all up. You see that passport there? I'm going to look through that, just look through it right now.
9:53In the last three years. You see all these places I've been? Do you think I'm dumb enough to jeopardize my job? For little uppers, downers, bibbit pills, poppers, cocaine, blow. It's like, dude, no, it's my job. Yeah, exactly. Besides that, I'm in the band. Bring it to me if I want it, which I don't. You know. You want something cooler place to go into? We went to Eastern Europe, like Poland and stuff was kind of weird. Japan's always awesome. Australia, New Zealand. All over Europe. That's all good. As long as the people show up and they're into it, I'll play a lot of places. We have five good questions just to wrap up.
10:38Show you one more answer. Delany and music could have been bad. That's kind of a two-parter. Delany music, if it's one song, two songs, and then you like it and you go out and buy the album, good. If you're just a cheap, crummy bastard and you're going to kill off music completely, bad. Cool. Learn and look at me. Just learn and do. One word gold finger. Long Jovity. Awesome. Thank you so much. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Appreciate it. Bye. Thanks. We got sat down three at the break of dawn, to one by one.
11:39They were gone. Back at those bugs in the software. That's the message. Some things out the handful in my summers. 99 red balloons go.
18:0888.3. CJIQF found the backstage pass to what you're listening to. Gold finger right there. 99 red balloons. And here in your bedroom too. My favorite gold finger tunes. We got two more gold finger tunes. Thanks to them again for stopping by on the show tonight. It was just awesome. Big show again. Because the music all the way from England is going to be here. And you're going to be very impressed because they're really cool guys. So we got two more gold finger songs to finish the hour out of nonstop commercial free music every week here on the backstage pass. Don't forget Craig Carter is going to be at the bomb shelter tomorrow night, Friday night at 9 p.m. And the punk rock county is coming in just a few minutes. So here's more gold finger. It's Mabel and their brand new single. It's called Wasted 88.3. CJIQF. I wasted a gift.
18:54I'm so sorry.
22:09Today the girl I knew from 99 day to eyes. Her hands all her name was Mabel. I kissed her once and now I'm Mabel. So what the? She's the bomb. Oh, me. That he's the bomb.
23:20Hey. Stay. Mabel left me. I heard she's going out with Charlie. She's the bomb.
