Matt Schichter is a Glasgow-based, Canadian filmmaker who grew up in Montreal and Waterloo, Ontario, and studied broadcasting at Conestoga College. He works primarily as a producer and line producer in Glasgow, on independent feature films across Scotland and the rest of the UK, most recently with Blazing Griffin. He is a member of BAFTA Scotland and the Production Guild of Great Britain. His credits include Faith, James McAvoy's California Schemin' and the multi-festival award-winning Mother Father Sister Brother Frank.

Alongside producing, he is a music documentary director. CFNY: The Spirit of Radio, his feature about the influential alternative radio station CFNY 102.1, premiered on TVO in Canada in January 2026 and on PBS in the US in September 2026. Write Record Tour (2021) follows the life of a working musician through more than fifty artists from his interview archive, and the short Lennon or McCartney (2014) asked 550 artists one question.

Before moving behind the camera he worked in Canada as an actor, radio host, music director and talk show host. In September 2003 he launched The BackStage Pass, a weekly online interview show widely considered the first podcast, and over the next eleven years recorded more than 700 interviews with guests including B.B. King, Taylor Swift, Robert De Niro and Benedict Cumberbatch. He has also made branded content for Google, Microsoft, Xbox and Universal Music.
