05Hey, it's Matt. We're here at the supermarket in Toronto. It's north by northeast meaning there are bands from around Canada and around the world Playing to perform there are literally bands everywhere and we're about to go catch Shred Kelly here at the supermarket today It seems since it's the first day of the music festival is a festival survival guide What are must-dos must have must-sees and what are some things that maybe you should stick away from if you're planning on attending music festival? So we'll go chat with Shred Kelly shortly But last night I caught up with Sydney York and this afternoon Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Devon from Beekeepers there So we chat with him a little bit too. So this is your festival survival guide on MSN I think it's important this isn't just a festival survival tip. This is kind of a life survival tip is
19You should bring your toothbrush with you everywhere you go and Your purse not just yeah, don't just leave it at home bring it in your purse. Absolutely And but we have a specific toothbrush that we like it's oh, yeah, absolutely Yeah, absolutely. It's all the tube except Devon calls it the tube. The tube, but it's our guitar player calls it the tube Oh, yeah But it's the greatest because it's like it's a little package and the toothpaste Fits inside the toothbrush and then you refill it so it's environmentally friendly too You should describe it again doing the same hand motions Rain a must-have is a a set of rubber footwear and as well
31That is a day that you can you can kick in the alcoholic beverages before noon Because sometimes you need them to kind of just deal with the amount of rain It's falling around you and the wetness that the crowd is experiencing There's a whole bunch of things that it helps Which of us was our mom's matter I'm curious well actually both And then without rain I would say sunscreen is really important And the reason why I say that is because no one likes someone that's all Lopsified and cracking and covered in some sort of after-sun lotion and smells like Day-old aloe I Don't know if day-old aloe takes on a smell an absolute must-have
17At a music festival is a little thing called an artist pass Sounds snobby, but let me tell you there's no going back to festivals once you've done them as an artist we're talking catering We're talking all the illicit drugs you can handle even the ones that you can't handle Basically if you're an artist at any music festival in Canada, you have anything you could possibly want One time at a festival they built us our own accommodations because the hotel wasn't good They built a whole new hotel just for us just for Viki for yeah, that's absolutely true Red Bull
26At music festivals you should try not to be the guy That's indulged in too many substances with his shirt off sweating in the sun Shred Kelly just blew my mind I had to tweet about that, but talking about great live performances Christian Hanson is about to play the hideout Three years ago I saw him in Edmonton and I have been he's been stuck in my head ever since he is the one of the best performers I have ever seen in my life. I hope you dig it Christian Hanson at the hideout Why don't you explain what happened to my time Marine well
28at the end of our set I got a little bit carried away and We have a plastic tambourine and I smash the the heck out of it you Julian to your finger Julian my finger and I'm thinking It's on the verge of stitches But the dude in the washroom told me just keep pressure on it and put a butterfly bandage on it and my sister's a nurse So she could do it tomorrow. Yeah, so I'm gonna go see most of this for tomorrow and get Stitched up underground style Your survival point is band-aids band-aids yeah band-aids and stay hydrated because You got to stay hydrated number one rule of the desert is keep your partner hydrated yeah and music festivals are like deserts Dude cut himself. I told you as a performer amazing crazy, but amazing. I hope he's okay
19We're gonna slow things down We've traveled up north now to bluer to check out Julian Taylor do a little acoustic music at transact tomorrow Imaginary cities the matinee Sloan chaos the national whole bunch of great stuff, but we'll close things out Who's thick Julian Taylor? But no, these two thousand and thirteen do's and don't do's
07Everything don'ts nothing pretty much the lay of the land if you're a performer bring a quarter inch cable that is important
