05Final day of North by Northeast. Well tomorrow nights the final day, but we're gonna be the most music red carpet having some fun. So since it's our last day at North by, I thought we go find some bands and see what their highlights were. Maybe get some recommendations for next year's North by Northeast to see what bands we should check out. So tonight on the show we've got catch Harbor Wows, one of my favorite bands in flight safety. We're gonna have Michael Ralt, and we start the night off at the Danforth music hall with a great band from Charlotte Town, P.E.I called Paper Lions.
55Who I ran into, it's Jordan Kelly. Hey! Hey! Our favorite part of the festival so far has been Sydney York. Sydney York, the archers from Victoria, and Hayden yesterday. Young and Dundas Square. Amazing. Blast from the past. I will share one memory from our very first NX&E. I believe it was NX&E. It's the first time we ever played in Toronto, playing a little venue called Rensho Relaxo. We were very young, very unexperienced, and we sort of walked into this venue, you know, wanting to make a splash. And, you know, we were between two bands that were, you know, one was like a hardcore band,
40one was sort of a shoegaze band. We already stuck out like a sore thumb. Anyway, we sort of wondered what we could do to sort of take it to the next level. And I believe it climaxed with John taking a guitar solo, potentially out in the audience, and walking up to the bar, ordering a shot of Jack Daniel's mid song, taking the shot and running back for the final course of a song. Over there. Well, I saw an LV Gore play over the black box, and that was really cool. I actually really liked that set. I didn't watch too many sets, because I was just kind of
26busy recovering from jet lag and bouncing around to my own shows. I'm really excited to see Michael Cronin tonight. I think that's going to be cool, but I was happy to get that bill to open for him. It was just really cool. I don't know. It was just a really loud rock and rolly set. And my friend Jay was jumping, and I liked what he was doing. And the whole thing was great. It was good sound. So we're out here in front of the Great Hall on Queen Street. I'm about to go check out one of my favorite bands from Halifax in New Brunswick, kind of called In-Flight Safety. But really cool. The catch up was Fred Kelly. That was random to go find them at the Paper Line Show. I know we didn't have any footage of Michael Rolten there. It's because we tried to trek across town quick enough, but there just wasn't time. Traffic, streets closed. So we got a little music video in there for you, but unfortunately no performance for Michael Rolten. But we're about to go get some performance from In-Flight Safety. Isn't this crazy? I just ran into the Freddy. It's the Autumn Portrait. So what was your highlight this week, man?
12Oh, thanks, man. How are you doing? Good? I'm good. I'm good. We don't have time for this. Tell us your highlight. I saw I was a Dundas score. I saw a national. Amazing. Hayden, one of my brought me back to high school. Love that guy. And just came back from winter sleep, which were amazing at the Danforth. And now we're going to see In-Flight Safety. So I'm looking forward to that. So those are, I would, if you have a chance, check those bands out for next year's festival. Arts and crafts, craft services, pop up thing.
17That was one of the things I super enjoyed. I saw a band called Always, which has some East Coasters in it, Molly Rankin, and Alec O'Hannley, formerly of Two Hours Traffic. I really, really liked this band called Pop. It used to be Topenga. So never heard of them. Amazing. I would have liked it. That sounds dangerous. It sounds dangerous. Do you ever see the cat in the ceiling fan? That's a good YouTube video. You should check it out. But do it. Check it out via MSN. Go to the search there and search for it. In-Flight Safety, destroy. I love that tune. I hope you dug it too. We got one more band. It's almost over. It's two in the morning. Getting a little sleepy. But much music awards are tomorrow. That'll be fun. It's the last bit of North Bend Northeast. Still got one more highlight for you.
02Catch Harbor Wolves at the Dakota Tavern. One of the best venues in the city. One of the coolest bands in the world. Catch Harbor Wolves to Dakota Tavern, MSN. Hey, I'd have to say like we saw the national last night. And, you know, it was a great show. But I think, I mean, despite the amazing performance,
50what was most powerful was just walking down Yonge Street after the performance. In the middle of the longest street in the history of streets. And being there in the center of it, and actually just like owning it as a pedestrian after an amazing performance. And just kind of shutting down the usual traffic. It's like an unusually powerful feeling. So for me, when that was kind of magical. And I don't know. I concur you've got 10,000 people jammed into a tiny space. The band finishes. And a street that would normally be occupied by buses, cars all the time. All of a sudden you've got just 10,000 people wandering around high on the event.
35Happy that they were there sharing in something amazing. Our record is about Toronto. And to be a part of that is pretty awesome for us.
