04This man is a living legend. Let's not go too far. That's too far. Paul Cantor, Jefferson Starship, Jefferson airplane. Not Starship. Not Starship. No, God forbid. Well, maybe we'll get into that if we have time a little later, but let's start with the band you're on tour with now. Jefferson Starship. Who's the man? Is it me, David Pryver, Marty Ballon, sometimes, the airplane. Kathy Richardson, our newest senior for the last year and a half. So, Slick Aguirre guitar, Chris Smith on drums. Danny Baldwin on drums. Right. Chris Smith on light. I understand. Keyboards. Cool. And how does a set list come about? Is it mostly Jefferson Starship, airplane, combination of the two? Combination of the two. We used stuff from before we were even playing, so stuff we haven't even recorded yet.
50You're coming up to our home country of Canada shortly, playing show in Edmonton. Edmonton, yeah. Right. Like a week or so. Yeah, next week. We went there. I think we're playing there Thursday. I'm guessing now. Yeah, that's fair enough. Soon enough, we were in. Soon. Next week. Yeah. And so are you on the road? Is this a tour? Is it just like... No, no, we go out there. We come and go. Yes, we play. Yeah. There must be a luxury to be able to do that nowadays. And you play with your wife. I still can. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I see you can put out records when you want to. You put out a record two years ago that came, didn't expect to see that happen. We're working on a new one for next year, too. Also, there's not going to be a decade in between releases. No, no. We're doing a Jefferson Starship record, new material. I was like, what are you writing about? Is it still a concept-themed kind of stuff? No, no. I don't know. I don't know.
36We haven't hardly written it yet. Okay. We're forming it as I speak. All right. Cool. Let's go back a little bit. You're the only band to play Emonare, Altman, and Woodstock. And we lived. And somehow. Somehow. One of the first survivors. I would do that. What was the best one on the other three for you? What was it? What was your favorite experience? I don't have a fairy. It's like asking you what's your favorite child of your children? They all are totally different to have something beautiful. You can come into them both. You're someplace based on the new record, isn't it? Yeah, it is. He's a good musician. Very good musician. Not in the band, though. He's played with the band. Okay. On stage live. He played at Woodstock with this last summer. Oh, really? That was amazing. That must have been cool for you to kind of come full circle there. And he's working on becoming a teacher, actually, which is what I was going to be.
25It's only got constructed by the 60s. And so it's nice that he's following through on both levels. That's fantastic. The 60s. Summer of love. You lived through it. I can only imagine what it was like. I actually heard you said the summer before that was actually a little bit better. The summer before was the best. And that's what no one knows. And why was that? Well, you are only the people in that scene. It's your history. It hardly matters. It's cool to people. I know my age, though. We wish we were born then for some reason. Yeah, my children always say, oh, Dad, you got to do everything. We don't get to do anything. No, it's not as free as it was. I said, well, you could find some things if you look hard. Our good thing is we didn't have to look. It just came piling in on us. Fair enough. You're still an advocate for marijuana use and all that stuff? I've never been an advocate for anything, actually. I advocate for people to do what they think best.
11Whatever their heart is on your side. No, no. As long as they don't harm anybody. Or something like that. Fair enough. It's not got too hippy on there. All right. It's late after a show, I understand. Yeah, we got to get up early. So wind this thing in. I'm done. Thank you. My pleasure.
